  • Prior to orientation, complete the pre-orientation homework, which will provide you with the information you will need to begin your academic career at UT. Depending on your college, once you have completed this information session, you will have the opportunity to either schedule an appointment with an advisor or meet with an advisor at your orientation.
  • Before orientation, you can review the online course catalog. Prior to the beginning of each academic term, you can view semester class offerings and schedules in the timetable. During orientation, you will be advised and register for classes.

Complete your campus housing contract.

  • Your housing contract confirmation and preferences selection information will be sent to your UT e-mail account shortly after you have paid your enrollment confirmation deposit.
  • You may confirm your housing/dining contract at any time, but the earlier the better. Priority for housing assignments is based on the date your enrollment confirmation deposit is received.

  • Submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) online each year. UT’s federal code is 003530. Submit the FAFSA by February 1 in order to be considered for the widest range of federal and state financial aid.
  • If you have been admitted for the spring or summer term, update your previously filed FAFSA to include UT Knoxville as your first-choice college/university.
  • UT offers several academic scholarships to transfer students. Apply by April 1.
