Welcome, parents!

Welcome, parents!

So Someone in Your Family Wants to be a Vol...

Your sons and daughters are now involved in the college search process, and we want to encourage you to be an active participant with them. UT has resources and information just for parents.

The “Tours & Events” section contains information about upcoming recruitment events, our tour program, and how to sign up for a visit to our campus. Parents are invited and encouraged to join students on these tours! Please keep in mind that tours fill up quickly during times when high schools are typically out of session (fall and spring breaks, summer vacation, etc.), so register early.

You’ll learn everything you need to know about the application process in the "Applying to UT" section. Be sure to note the important deadlines we've listed!

Tuition & Funding” connects you to all things financial. Here, you'll find information regarding tuition and other costs, as well as how to offset those expenses with scholarships and loans. Again, there are several important deadlines to note, so keep your calendar handy.

"Academics & Majors" lists all of our available majors and links you to additional curriculum and academic resources, including our undergraduate catalog.

In our "Living on Campus" section, you will gain insight into the many ways your student can become involved in the university experience outside the classroom. There's always something going on at UT—whether it's participation in Greek life, campus clubs and organizations, intramural and varsity athletics, fine arts, theatre, concerts, lectures, or something we and our current students haven't thought of yet.

The University of Tennessee, Knoxville, is committed to maintaining a safe environment for all on campus and has numerous resources that enhance campus safety. The UT Police Department is dual-accredited and has more than 50 uniformed officers. Also, the Campus Safety Guide provides useful tips and information to help ensure that each student knows how to stay safe on campus.

After your student decides to join us at the University of Tennessee, he or she will find key information about orientation and how to become part of the Volunteer community in "Admitted Students."

For those of you who would like more information, or who would like to speak with one of our staff personally, please visit our Staff pages.

We hope this site will provide you with all the information you need to enthusiastically support your child’s decision to attend the University of Tennessee.

We suggest that you schedule a campus visit and encourage your student to begin the application process. We know how important the college search is to you and to your student(s), and we hope you will soon be the parent of a Vol!

» Join the Parents Association

The UT Parents Association was founded in 2002 to help parents stay involved with their students and develop their own connection to the university.

The Parents Association keeps you informed about critical campus news, dates to remember, resources to ensure your student's academic success, and a host of exciting events taking place on our campus.

Should you ever have questions or concerns, the Parents Association is your support system!
