My favorite thing about being a UT Admissions Counselor...
Meeting so many wonderful people! I love working and interacting with people because I am a very outgoing and social person. My job allows me to do that. I get to meet interesting and exciting people every day, and I get to be involved in a major decision in many people lives. I believe college is important for your future and am happy to be a part of such a wonderful institution.
My favorite UT campus tradition...
My favorite UT tradition is Smokey's Howl.... which pretty much is a big pep rally event including a dance competition. I love dance, so I love to watch the competition. I also love UT Baseball, and spent quite a bit of time in that stadium as an undergrad. Go Vols!!
My favorite UT website...
Once you are a student at UT you will find that the DARS system can be your best friend at times. It can tell you exactly what requirements you have taken that apply to graduating in your major and what requirements you have left to complete—along with every class you can take to satisfy that specific requirement. It is such a useful tool when you are planning your classes and schedule out for the next semester. Go DARS!
Knoxville “Must Do and/or See” Locations
Well besides the obvious Football and Basketball games, head down to Market Square to sample the fabulous restaurants and shops. There are also many venues downtown that have concerts, check out Sundown in the City, and all the many other fun events held there every year. Check out Magpies which is a GREAT bakery downtown. Try one of their specialty flavored cupcakes and you'll be hooked! Knoxville is growing every year and I'm sure you'll be calling it home in no time! :)
What I do in my "free" time...
Besides working in Admissions, I am also a Photographer. I spend many Saturdays doing just that, so I am always busy! I also love to workout, so you can often find me in the gym until eight or nine at night. I have a dog named Baxter whom I adore, and will take him just about anywhere I can.
What makes UT such a great place?
It has so many opportunities. It is a city within itself. Pretty much anything you are interested in you can find at the University. It's these interests that bring people and groups together on campus to create lifelong friends and experiences.
