Fall 2011 Scholar's Invitational Information

Come to campus in October to learn about the great opportunities UT has for high-achieving students. Scholars Invitational will be held on October 7, 17, and 21. Invitations will be sent in August and registration will be through the invitation link on your VIP page.

High School Seniors invited to Scholars Invitational are those who have had their ACT or SAT scores sent to UT Knoxville or who have allowed the testing agencies to sell their scores and contact information to us. Other students interested in attending and who have a 29 or higher ACT composite or a 1280 or higher SAT composite (CR+M) may have their school counselors send their name, school name, test score, home mailing address, and personal e-mail address to admissions@utk.edu. Please note that there is limited space available at Scholars Invitational, so early registration is encouraged.

Hear about the campus experience from our students, meet with faculty and academic advisors in your college of interest, join us for lunch, and then learn more at our academic browse session, international programs presentation, and health professions presentation. After our closing panel of experts in admissions, financial aid, and housing, you can take an optional brief tour of the heart of the campus or strike out on your own with our handy campus map.

Parking will be in the University Center Garage on Philip Fulmer Way. Parking is free for Scholars Invitational participants.

From the Knoxville Airport:

• Follow U.S. 129 (Alcoa Highway) north to Knoxville
• Take the Neyland Drive exit
• Turn right onto Neyland Drive (158 North)
• Turn right onto Cumberland Avenue
• Drive approximately 1½ miles and turn right onto Phillip Fulmer Way
• Continue approximately ½ block — the University Center Parking Garage will be on your right

From the Atlanta/Chattanooga Area:

• Follow I-75 North/I-40 East to Exit 386B (Alcoa Highway 129)
• Merge onto U.S. 129 (towards the Airport and Smoky Mountains)
• Take the Neyland Drive exit
• Turn right onto Neyland Drive (158 North)
• Turn right onto Cumberland Avenue
• Drive approximately 1½ miles and turn right onto Phillip Fulmer Way
• Continue approximately ½ block — the University Center Parking Garage will be on your right

From the Nashville Area:

• Follow I-40 East to Exit 386B (Alcoa Highway 129)
• Merge onto U.S. 129 (towards the Airport and Smoky Mountains)
• Take the Neyland Drive exit
• Turn right onto Neyland Drive (158 North)
• Turn right onto Cumberland Avenue
• Drive approximately 1½ miles and turn right onto Phillip Fulmer Way

From the North Carolina Area:

• Follow I-40 to Exit 386 B (Alcoa Highway 129)
• Merge onto U.S. 129 (towards the Airport and Smoky Mountains)

• Follow I-75 South to I-275 South
• Take I-40 West (left split) heading towards Nashville/Chattanooga

• Take the Neyland Drive exit
• Turn right onto Neyland Drive (158 north)

From the Tri-Cities, TN Area:

• Follow I-81 South to I-40 West
• Follow I-40 to Exit 386 B (Alcoa Highway 129)

• Take the Neyland Drive exit
• Turn right onto Neyland Drive (158 north)
• Turn right onto Cumberland Avenue

» Tips for an enjoyable visit:

• Register early — dates fill up quickly. Please bring a copy of your tour confirmation with you to campus.
• Arrive early — be on campus at least 10-15 minutes early to check in for your tour.
• Love your feet — wear comfortable shoes! The tour covers a large part of our campus and we have some low to medium hills.
• Dress wisely — be prepared for inclement weather such as rain and snow in the Spring and Winter, and for very warm weather in the Summer.
• Shield yourself — be sure to bring an umbrella and/or sunglasses!
• Visit an academic college — our Campus Connections program adds an optional academic showcase to your regular campus visit.
