Application Information

We've listed some important information that you and your students should know before initiating the application process. If you are in need of further information, please take a look through our "Applying to UT" section. If you've done that and are still in need of crucial application information, don't hesitate to contact us.

Additional Documentation
Applicants are given the opportunity to enclose an optional personal statement that might address special circumstances that a high school transcript would not provide. Applicants may also include a resume or list of activities.

Calculating GPA
Based on your high school's weighting system, we may calculate additional points when determining a core grade point average. One additional point is added to the grades for AP or IB courses, and 0.5 points are added to grades earned in honors and/or dual-enrollment courses. Maximum GPA is 4.0.

Our ability to clearly identify Honors, Advanced Placement, International Baccalaureate, and College Dual Enrollment courses on high school transcripts is essential for proper evaluation of these courses. Our staff scans for course designations as reported to us on the secondary school report (e.g., H, AP, etc.).

Although initial freshman admission decisions are based on six semesters of high school work, students may submit a seventh semester transcript if it strengthens their academic record. For these grades to be considered, the updated high school transcript must be received by March 1.
