Important Events

Following is a list of regularly scheduled and recurring events for guidance counselors and students.

Open House

Open House is an event designed for high school seniors and takes place in the fall of the senior year.  Students have the opportunity to talk with representatives from UT’s nine academic colleges. Students may also meet with admission, housing, financial aid and scholarship representatives, student organization leaders and numerous other campus offices. Campus tours are also offered throughout the duration of the event.

Conferences for Counselors

Conference for Counselors are state-wide events designed to update and educate School Counselors across Tennessee about The University of Tennessee, Knoxville.   Counselors are able to enjoy a time of networking while learning about the Admissions and Scholarship and Financial Aid process at UTK. 

Invitations to the events are mailed to school counselors in August, with the events beginning in September each year. Locations are typically Memphis, Jackson, Nashville, Franklin, Knoxville, Chattanooga and the Tri-Cities.

Scholars Invitational

Students invited to Scholars Invitational are students who have demonstrated academic eligibility for UT’s Honors Programs and scholarships through their excellent performance on the PSAT, ACT, or SAT. Attendance is by invitation only and reservations are required.

Scholars Invitational takes place in the fall of the senior year.

JUMP (Join the University's Minority Program)

JUMP is an annual program for African American students from Tennessee who have been offered admission.  JUMP provides the opportunity for students and their parents to participate in an overnight visit to campus at no cost to the family. It also gives students an in-depth look at academics and student life with programs sponsored by campus administrators as well as student organizations.

JUMP takes place in the early Spring of the senior year.

Spring Fling

Spring Fling is an event designed for high school juniors and takes place in the spring of the junior year.  Students have the opportunity to talk with representatives from UT’s nine academic colleges. Students may also meet with admission, housing, financial aid and scholarship representatives, student organization leaders and numerous other campus offices. Campus tours are also offered throughout the duration of the event.
