Getting Here Is Half the Fun...

We're located in a river valley on a 550-acre campus in the city of Knoxville, Tennessee. The Cumberland mountain range is to our west; the Appalachians and the Great Smoky Mountains National Park are to our east. We're also located at the intersection of I-75 and I-40, so we're quite easy to find.

Your on-campus destination will be slightly different if you come for a Saturday visit. Weekday (M-F) visitors will need to come to the Visitors' Center (for you alumni, the Vistors' Center is located in the former Faculty Club). The street address of the UT Visitors' Center is 2704 Kingston Pike, Knoxville, TN, 37996. The parking lot entrance, however, is on Neyland Drive. Weekend (Saturday) visitors will come directly to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions for check-in. The office is located at 320 Student Services Building (in Circle Park behind the Torchbearer). You will be directed to the Admissions Information Session when you check in with Admissions.

Road Closure Information: Interstate 40 in downtown Knoxville will be closed on May 1 to through traffic due to construction. Students, faculty, staff and visitors traveling to the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, will still have access to several exits that lead to campus.

The road reopening is scheduled for July 1, 2009. It will be closed from east of James White Parkway eastbound to the new Hall of Fame Drive westbound -- a distance of less than a mile.

From the Knoxville Airport (M-F):

  • Follow U.S. 129 (Alcoa Highway) north to Knoxville
  • Take the Neyland Drive exit
  • Turn right on Neyland Drive (158 North)
  • Turn left into the Visitors' Center parking lot
  • Note: The street address of the UT Visitors' Center is 2704 Kingston Pike, Knoxville, TN, 37996. The parking lot entrance, however, is on Neyland Drive.

From the Knoxville Airport (Sat):

  • Follow U.S. 129 (Alcoa Highway) north to Knoxville
  • Take the Neyland Drive exit
  • Turn left onto Neyland Drive (158 South)
  • Follow 158 S (Neyland Drive/University of Tennessee) to the second traffic light.
  • Turn left onto Lake Loudon Boulevard. (Thompson-Boling Arena will be on your right)
  • Follow Lake Loudon to the second traffic light.
  • Turn right onto Volunteer Boulevard.
  • Turn right into Circle Park by the information booth. You do not need to stop at the information booth on Saturdays.
  • Check-in at the Admissions Office, 320 Student Services Building. You will be directed to the Admissions Information Session when you check in with Admissions.

  • Follow 1-40 West to Hall of Fame Drive (exit 389), turn left
  • Follow signs to Neyland Drive (158 North), turn right
  • Follow Neyland Drive along the river until you almost reach the end. The Visitors’ Center will be on your left just before Neyland dead ends into Kingston Pike. Turn left into the Visitor’s Center parking lot.

From the Tri-Cities, TN Area (M-F):

  • Follow I-81 South to I-40 West
  • Follow 1-40 West to Hall of Fame Drive (exit 389), turn left
  • Follow signs to Neyland Drive (158 North), turn right
  • Follow Neyland Drive along the river until you almost reach the end. The Visitors’ Center will be on your left just before Neyland dead ends into Kingston Pike. Turn left into the Visitor’s Center parking lot.
