Seating over 104,000, Neyland Stadium is the second largest college stadium in the country. Originally named Shields-Watkins Field when it was first completed in 1921, the stadium was renamed in honor of General Robert R. Neyland, who served as head coach from 1926 to 1952. Neyland Stadium is home to the 1998 National Championship football Volunteers.
