The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for the 2025-2026 academic year is now available! Starting your senior year of high school, you will need to file a FAFSA every year until you have completed college to get the most financial aid available!
Apply for financial aid
When you file the FAFSA, you’re applying for financial aid from the federal government, the state, and the university. You need to file a FAFSA no matter where you plan to attend college! Students who file the FAFSA will be eligible to receive many different types of financial aid, including grants and scholarships, student loans, Federal Work-Study awards, and more. Don’t forget to file your FAFSA by the UT FAFSA Priority Filing Date of March 3, 2025 to be eligible for the most aid possible!
How to file your FAFSA
Your first step is to create or locate your Federal Student Aid (FSA) ID. If this is your first time filing a FAFSA, you will create an FSA ID. If you have filed a FAFSA before, you already have an FSA ID. Your FSA ID is the login to your Federal Student Aid account where you work on, and file, your application. Learn more about creating your FSA ID here. Once you’ve created it, save your login information somewhere safe for future reference!
After you’ve created or located your FSA ID, you can file your FAFSA online at tiny.utk.edu/fafsa-app. Follow the instructions on the web page to file. During the application process, you will be asked to complete certain sections and share the application with your parent(s) or guardian(s) for additional information. We recommend you schedule time to sit down at a table with your filing parent(s) or guardian(s) to make this process smooth and easy!
