Big Orange Preview Interest Sessions

From 11AM to 3PM, we encourage you to attend information sessions and take walking tours to help acquaint yourself with campus and the opportunities that await you. Below you will find descriptions of sessions that are available. In order to take full advantage of the activities, we recommend you select one event per hour. If you have one or more family members or friends in your group, you may want to have each person attend a different session. Check out the Schedule Quick Guide.



1PM, 2PM, & 3PM | Student Union 272, Ballroom B/C

This session will feature a general overview of financial aid and scholarship information, and the many resources available to assist when applying and funding your education.

1PM & 2PM | Student Union, 270

Are you the first in your family to attend college? Are you the parent or guardian of a student who is the first in their family to attend college? Then join us for an informative session and learn how first-generation college students start and end at UTK as a first generation college graduate!

1PM & 2PM | Student Union, 362

This presentation will allow participants the oppor­tunity to learn more about fraternities & sororities, hear about the benefits of joining, and steps one will need to take to consider joining. Representatives from the Inter-Fraternity Council (IFC), Multicultural Greek Council (MGC), Panhellenic (NPC), and National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC-Divine 9) will be present.

2PM & 3PM | Alumni Memorial Building, Room 27

This session will focus on the programs and services offered through the Office of Multicultural Student Life. Attendees will also have the opportunity to learn more about the Frieson Black Cultural Center and its many amenities!

1PM & 2PM | Student Union, 262

Come learn about the university-wide honors pro­grams available at the University of Tennessee includ­ing Haslam Scholars Program, Chancellor’s Honors Program, Honors Leadership Program, and the 1794 Scholars.

1PM, 2PM, & 3PM | Student Union Auditorium (Room 180)

This session will focus on the University of Tennessee’s application and admissions process. Hear from one of our admissions counselors on topics such as important dates and deadlines, how students apply to UT, the application review process, and best practices when applying to the university. This is a great session for any and all of our #FutureVols!

1PM & 2PM | Alumni Memorial Building, 32

Out of towners…this is for you! Come hear from a panel of current UT students whose homes are outside the state of Tennessee. See what the transition to UT was like for them, what life on campus is like as an out of state student, and how they’ve made Rocky Top their home sweet home away from home.

1PM, 2PM, & 3PM | Alumni Memorial Building, 210

Information will be aimed at helping you transfer from community colleges and other four-year institutions. Information on scholarships, deadlines, and the transfer enrollment process will be given to help prospective students determine when and how to transfer to the University of Tennessee.

11AM-4PM | Student Union, Suite 282

This is your Big Orange Preview Home Base! Stop by the Visitors Center located in the Student Union throughout the day for refreshments, pick up your Big Orange Preview t-shirt, and chat with our friendly admissions staff. We will be available to answer any questions you may have!

Enjoy a tour of our campus led by the Herbert College of Agriculture Ambassadors. Our students are faced with real world issues where they must use critical thinking, interdisciplinary practice, and team work to reach practical solutions. The college has diverse academic offerings, a smaller campus community, and a congenial culture. Come see for yourself why so many students love to #MakeHerbertHome!

12PM – 4PM | Art & Architecture Atrium

Participate in the College of Architecture & Design Open House Program, starting at 12PM with a lunch offered by the college. You will learn about undergraduate programs in Architecture, Interior Archi­tecture, and Graphic Design, as well as tour the Art & Architecture Building with some of our current students. Please note that this program runs from 12PM-4PM.

12PM & 1PM | Strong Hall, B1

With majors covering everything from anthropology and biology to English and history, as well as psychology and sociology, the College of Arts and Sciences has you covered. As the largest and most diverse college at UT, we provide support for students interested in a flexible and interdisciplinary education experience. Additionally, if you don’t know what you want to do (or aren’t sure how to go about doing it), this is the college for you.

11AM | Strong Hall, B1

For students interested in any health care options including medicine, dentistry, physical therapy, pharmacy, and many other choices. Come learn more about the choices you have and the ways that Arts and Sciences can support your goals.

11AM & 12PM | Natalie L. Haslam Music Center, Lobby

Learn how to be involved with music at UT! Whether you are interested in being a music major or minor, or if you would like to learn how to join one of our many ensembles, come explore the diverse musical opportunities the School of Music has to offer. Tour our new music building’s rehearsal rooms, practice rooms, performance spaces, and more.


11AM, 12PM, & 1PM | Haslam Business Building, 203

Start with an informative session highlighting majors, admission requirements, organizations, and co-curricu­lar opportunities. Then take a special tour of the Haslam Business Building.

11AM & 12PM | Communications Building, 321

Explore the College of Communication & Information! Attend an information session to learn about the fields of Advertising, Communication Studies, Information Scienc­es, Journalism & Electronic Media, and Public Relations, as well as student organizations and campus media.

11AM | Student Union, 362

Learn about the five undergraduate majors with many tracks and concentrations, including: Child & Family Stud­ies, Kinesiology, Recreation & Sport Studies, Nutrition, Retail & Consumer Sciences, Hospitality & Tourism Man­agement, Audiology & Speech Pathology, and Teacher Education.

11AM & 12PM

John D. Tickle Engineering Building, 405

Parents will attend a presentation by Dr. Kilic, Associate Dean in the College of Engineering. After the presentation, an Engi­neering Student Ambassador will be available for ques­tions.

11AM & 12PM

Ferris Hall Lawn

Students will go on a tour of the College of Engineering campus, led by Engineering Student Ambassadors. They will have the opportunity to see a lab/project space and ask questions along the way.

11AM & 12PM | College of Nursing, 201

The College of Nursing welcomes you to learn about the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program and curriculum, and the admission process. Advising staff and Student Ambassadors will be on-hand to share informa­tion and answer questions.

11AM | Haslam Business Building, 102

Did you know there are over 75 potential careers that start with a degree in Social Work? Come explore the un­dergraduate programs, study abroad opportunities, and five year track to a counseling degree.
