What’s Next?

You applied for admission, celebrated your admission and confirmed your enrollment—but the fun doesn’t end there. Before you arrive, here are a few things you’ll need to do:

Complete your housing application!

Living on campus is a fantastic way to immerse yourself in the UT community! UT offers a variety of residence halls—from traditional shared rooms to suite-style and apartment options—so you can find the right fit for your lifestyle. You can explore the different dorm types and amenities on the University Housing website.

If you live within 50 miles of campus and plan to commute from home, you may qualify for a housing exemption. For more information or if you have questions, please contact housing@utk.edu. For those bringing a car, parking permits are available but limited—be sure to check out parking options and rates through UT Parking and Transportation Services.

Register for Orientation: Get ready for the New Vol Experience!

This is your chance to meet fellow students, learn about campus resources, and kick-start your journey as a Volunteer. Orientation is a hybrid experience, combining self-paced online modules with exciting in-person programming once you arrive on campus.

  • Before you arrive, you’ll complete required online modules covering key topics like academic advising, campus life, student success resources, and more.
  • When you get here, you’ll participate in engaging in-person sessions where you’ll connect with fellow new Vols, meet peer leaders and staff, explore campus, and start building your UT community.

Orientation is required for all incoming students! Visit the New Vol Experience website for dates, deadlines, and more info on what to expect and how to prepare.

Submit Immunization Records

To comply with university health requirements, all students—especially those living on campus—must submit their immunization records before move-in. This helps keep our campus community healthy and safe. You can find full details, including how to submit your records and information about medical or religious exemptions, on the Student Health Center’s Immunization Requirements page.
