Fall 2025 New Vol Prep

We’re so excited to welcome New Vols to campus this fall! Please use this guide to stay on track for your Fall 2025 Semester enrollment. Make sure to complete any required action items as soon as possible and by the listed deadlines. If you have any questions or concerns, contact the One Stop team!

1. Check UT Email daily.

Check your UT Email daily to stay on track and prepared for fall! You’ll receive important and timely information about registration, billing and payments, financial aid, events, and other action items in your UT Email account.

2. Register an Authorized User in MyUTK.

We recommend adding an Authorized User to your account. An Authorized User is someone One Stop can talk to about topics related to financial aid, billing statements, payments, verification, and other outstanding requirements needed.

3. Send final transcripts and verified test scores ASAP.

UT must receive your final high school transcripts and all verified test scores by July 1, 2025*. Send these as soon as possible, as it can take weeks for UT to receive and process them. Further instructions, including how to send transcripts for dual enrollment and from other institutions, can be found here.

*If you do not anticipate having your final high school transcript until after July 1, let us know by logging into your Go Vols Portal, navigating to the GPA & Tests tab, and complete the “Final High School Transcript Extension Request” form.

Dual Enrollment, AP, IB and CLEP Scores: Please send these as soon as possible. You can discuss the acceptance of all test scores with your academic advisor. More information about AP, IB, and CLEP test scores can be found here.

4. Confirm your residency status.

If you have a “Proof of Lawful Presence” requirement in your Go Vols Portal, don’t worry— you aren’t in trouble! This requirement is simply a step required by Tennessee law to confirm eligibility for in-state tuition and state-funded financial aid. First-year students should submit their documentation by July 1, and transfer students should do so by August 1. This is a standard part of the enrollment process for many students, and we are here to help if you have any questions or need support.

5. Apply for any necessary loans and complete paperwork.

Schedule time with a coach from the Center for Financial Wellness to learn about responsible borrowing, understanding loans, and loan repayment options. Learn more about student loan options here.

  • Federal Direct Subsidized and Unsubsidized Loans: You can accept these loans in your MyUTK account. After accepting, visit studentaid.gov to complete master promissory note (MPN) and entrance loan counseling. Please note that you must accept any loans and complete the necessary paperwork by July 25, 2025.
  • Parents can apply for a Parent Plus Loan at studentaid.gov. Parents should log in with their FSA ID and password. If approved, the parent should also complete the master promissory note (MPN). Please note that Parent Plus Loans should be applied for no later than July 25, 2025.
  • Private (Alternative) Loans: These loans are through private lenders, and are not from the federal government. Please be aware that private loans often have higher interest rates than federal loans. Private loans should be applied for by July 15, 2025, four weeks before the August 8 payment due date.

6. Take care of any outstanding financial aid requirements by July 1, 2025.

Check to see if you have any outstanding financial aid requirements in your MyUTK account under the “TN HOPE, SAP, & Requirements” link. If you see any action items, make sure you complete them by July 1.

7. Fee Discounts, External Scholarships, & Third Party Billing

  • TN State employee or TN public school teacher: Submit the fee waiver between June 1 and by August 1, 2025.
  • External Scholarships: Please submit checks by mail as soon as possible, but no later than July 25, 2025 so it is received by August 1. You should mail checks to:
    • Bursar’s Office, 211 Student Services Building, Knoxville, TN 37996
  • Third-party billing and 529 Plan: If you are utilizing a third-party billing arrangement or a 529 plan and your program is paying with a check, please make sure the payment is in the mail by July 21, 2025 so it is received by payment due date on August 8.

8. Pay your bill for the fall semester.

Payments are due on August 8. You should be paid in full or enrolled in the deferred payment plan by this date. Learn more about the deferred payment plan here. Visit and bookmark our billing and payment page to stay up to date on all things billing and payment!
