Sneak Peek Overnight Visit Program

Join us for the Sneak Peek Overnight Visit Program–a unique, two-day experience that will introduce a select group of multicultural high school juniors (like you!) to the Volunteer experience. You will be able to meet staff and current students, learn more about your intended major, and tour our beautiful campus.

Friday, April 17 – Saturday, April 18, 2020
UT, Knoxville Campus

The Office of Undergraduate Admissions will provide round-trip transportation (from Memphis, Nashville, Atlanta, and Chattanooga only) to and from the Knoxville campus, overnight lodging, and meals while on campus for program participants.

Participants must be a current high school junior and have a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA on their 5 semester transcript to be eligible. If selected, you will be notified by email with your next steps and details about the program.

How will I know if I am selected for Sneak Peek?

Participants will be selected from the pool of applicants based on the official GPA (and ACT/SAT scores if available) as reported in your application. All applicants will be notified if they have been selected to attend via email. Selected students must then confirm their attendance to the program to secure their spot.

Frequently Asked Questions

There is no charge for the student to attend this program! Transportation (Memphis, Nashville, Chattanooga, and Atlanta locations only), meals (while on campus), and lodging are provided by the Office of Undergraduate Admissions.

Most schools provide overall GPAs on report cards or transcripts. You can confirm your cumulative GPA by consulting with your school counselor. 

The priority registration deadline for Sneak Peek participants is Wednesday, April 1, 2020 or until we have reached capacity with academically eligible applicants. Space is limited, so register today!

We will notify students by email of their confirmation for the program once the application and medical release form have been received and processed. Upload your medial release form with your application OR you may mail, fax, or e-mail the form to our main campus office for processing:

Students will stay in hotel rooms at the Hilton Downtown Knoxville. UT staff and student leaders will also stay in the hotel with Sneak Peek students.

Note: Students will only room with other students. UT staff will assign roommates at random.

The Undergraduate Admissions Office will provide charter bus transportation to bring students from Memphis, Nashville, Chattanooga and Atlanta, GA to the Knoxville campus. Due to limited space, seats will be reserved according to application submission.

If you do not live in one of the transport areas, then you will need to arrive by personal car. Students may drive; however, we recommend that a parent/legal guardian bring and/or drop off the student. There is NO cost to attend this program, and parking on campus will be complimentary (note: there is free parking in the Locust Street Garage near the hotel. If you choose to park at the hotel, there will be a charge which will be the responsibility of the individual). 

If you are traveling by bus, please see the assigned meeting location and time below.* Please be at your designated location on time, as we will start replacing seats reserved for confirmed students with students on the waitlist fifteen minutes after pick up/arrival time.

Buses will depart from Memphis on Friday, April 17, from the Super Walmart on Highway 64, across from the Wolfchase Galleria Mall at 6:30 a.m. CST. Students will need money for food to and from Knoxville. The bus will stop in Nashville for fast food.

Buses will load in Nashville Friday, April 17, starting at 12:30 p.m. CST at Opry Mills Mall at Entrance 1 (near the Nike Factory Store, H&M, and Chuy’s) on Briley Parkway. The buses will depart soon after from Knoxville.

The vans will depart from Atlanta on Friday, April 17, at 1:30 p.m. EST from Cumberland Mall in the Macy’s Parking lot (the side of Macy’s adjacent to the food court entrance). The mall is located at 1000 Cumberland Mall, Atlanta, GA 30339. Students will need to eat lunch prior to boarding the van.

The buses will depart form Chattanooga on Friday, April 17, at 3:00 p.m. EST from Hamilton Place Mall in the Sears parking lot (the side facing Carrabba’s Italian Grill). Students will need to eat lunch prior to boarding the van.

Students planning to arrive by personal vehicle can meet us at the Hilton Downtown Knoxville and check in starting at 4:45 p.m. EST.

Each student will need to bring a change of clothes (only one bag please) and personal hygiene products. You will only need money for snacks while traveling (students on the buses will need money for 2 fast food stops), late night cravings, and any souvenirs you may purchase while on campus.
