Fall 2024 Confirmation Deadline Extended

As you get ready to make the move to college life, we know you have a lot of decisions to make! To make some of those decisions a little easier, we’re here with the support and flexibility you need to make the best choices for your future.

We are excited to announce that we have extended our confirmation deadline to May 15! You and your family now have additional time to finalize your decision and secure your spot as a member of the Volunteer family. The confirmation deadline for transfer students has not changed—visit our Important Dates & Deadlines page for more information.

This decision is due to the changes that were made this year to the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The U.S. Department of Education has experienced a significant delay in providing financial aid data to colleges and universities, which we need in order to provide you with the most accurate financial aid information possible. We hope that giving you additional time will allow you and your family to make informed decisions as you receive and review your financial aid packages.

UT is starting to prepare financial aid packages this week! As an admitted or new transfer student, find out when you will receive a financial aid offer based on the category you are in below. If you aren’t sure what category you are in, don’t worry! We will email you at your UT email and personal email accounts and let you know what your next steps are. You will also receive email notifications from Federal Student Aid (FSA) with your status and any necessary actions.

  • Around 50% of the FAFSAs UT has received are complete and don’t need any corrections. If your FAFSA is in this category, you will receive a digital financial aid offer in your UT email account at the end of this week, April 15-19! You will also receive a printed copy of your financial aid offer in your mailbox next week.
  • If we received your FAFSA and corrections or updates are needed, we will prepare your financial aid package as soon as you make those corrections and your FAFSA is reprocessed by FSA and sent back to us. We encourage you to log in to your FSA account and make any corrections as soon as possible so you receive your financial aid offer soon!
  • A small group of FAFSAs will need to be reprocessed by the Department of Education. If you fall in this group, there is nothing for you to do now, unless you have additional corrections you need to make on your end. FSA anticipates they will start reprocessing this group of FAFSAs after May 1. Once your FAFSA is reprocessed by FSA and sent to UT, we will prepare your financial aid package right away!
