To control the density of our Visitors Center, we are limiting all families to five (5) members: the prospective student plus four (4) guests. We may not be able to accommodate walk-in visitors due to space.

Additional information about arriving on campus will be provided in your confirmation and reminder emails upon registration.

What to Expect on Your Tour

What if I want to bring more than four guests?

We are unable to accommodate more than four guests per registered student at this time. This is to ensure the maximum number of prospective students are able to attend a campus tour. We will not be able to make any exceptions to this policy.

What if the tour I want to join is at capacity?

During busy seasons, our campus tour registrations often fill up quickly. If you’re unable to attend a campus tour due to capacity, our virtual and self-guided tour options are a great alternative to see Rocky Top at your own pace.

Please note that all guests must be pre-registered for a campus tour and we will be unable to accommodate additional guests or walk-in registrations. In the event that you are on campus and our tour capacity has been reached, we are more than happy to provide you with a self-guided tour packet so that you can explore campus at your own pace.

Will we eat in a cafeteria on the tour?

Due to time constraints, we do not stop for food on our general campus tour. However, when you check in for your tour, you will get a visitor’s bag that contains coupons for campus dining. You are welcome to experience Volunteer Dining locations at a discounted rate before or after your tour.

Can family members and guests attend campus tours?

Yes, but with limited availability. Each registered student is limited to bringing four guests. At this time, we are unable to accommodate more than four guests per registered student.

What happens in the case of inclement weather?

Campus tours will take place rain or shine—unless the university is closed for inclement weather. In the event that UT is closed, you will be notified via email. Information will also be available at utk.edu/status.
