Campus Tour Parking and Travel Plans

We are so excited to see you on Rocky Top!

Listed below is information that will be helpful while planning your weekday visit.

Parking

Your campus visit will begin and end at the UT Visitors Center, located on the second floor of the Student Union, 1502 Cumberland Avenue, Suite 282.

Please park in the Vol Hall Garage, 1545 White Avenue. Parking validation will be provided upon arrival at the Visitor’s Center. Proceed to the Student Union by following Smokey’s paw prints—the “Campus Tour” signs will lead the way! Once you arrive at the Student Union, make your way to the second floor to check-in at the Visitor’s Center, Suite 282.

Campus tour overflow parking is available at the UT Creamery. You will need to print out your tour confirmation email and place in your windshield for parking validation. More information and details will be included in your tour communications.

For event specific parking information, please review the confirmation email you received upon registering for the event.

We are unable to reimburse parking citations at this time—but we are glad to validate your parking for both the public Vol Hall garage and the UT Creamery.

Travel

Car

From the McGhee Tyson Airport/from the south of Knoxville: Take Alcoa Highway (US-129 N) North for 11 miles to the Kingston Pike/Cumberland Avenue exit. Get in the middle lane and take a right onto Cumberland Avenue. Continue on Cumberland Avenue and turn left on 16th Street, then turn right onto White Avenue. The Vol Hall Parking Garage will be located on your left.
From the west of Knoxville: Take Exit 387 off of I-40 East. At the light turn right onto N 17th Street, and then take a quick left turn onto Grand Avenue. Then turn right onto 16th Street. Go straight and turn left onto White Avenue. The Vol Hall Parking Garage will be located on your left.
From the east of Knoxville: Take Exit 387 off of I-40 West and turn right onto Ailor Avenue. Then turn right onto N 17th Street. Continue straight, then turn left onto Grand Avenue and then turn right onto 16th Street. Go straight and turn left onto White Avenue. The Vol Hall Parking Garage will be located on your left.
From the north of Knoxville: Take the Henley Street Exit off of I-275 South. At the red light, go straight onto 11th Street. Turn right onto Clinch Avenue. Then turn left onto 16th Street, and then take a quick left turn onto White Avenue. The Vol Hall Parking Garage will be located on your left.

Plane

The McGhee Tyson Airport, located eleven miles south from downtown and campus, is serviced by Allegiant Air, American Airlines, Delta Airlines, Frontier Airlines (seasonally), and United Airlines. For McGhee Tyson Airport information, visit the McGhee Tyson website. Ground transportation is located on this site, including information about rentals, ride sharing, taxis, charters, and hotels.

Rideshare Services

Rideshare services including Lyft and Uber operate in Knoxville. If you would like to take a rideshare service to your campus tour, set your destination to the University of Tennessee Student Union, located at 1502 Cumberland Avenue, Knoxville, TN 37916.
