The energy on campus shifts when it’s football season—there’s an infectious buzz that’s hard to ignore, a hype unmatched, and anticipation for kickoff hangs heavy in the air. Join us on September 19 to experience it for yourself at Rocky Top Tailgate!
This one-of-a-kind event gives future Volunteers the chance to see the University of Tennessee, Knoxville come alive on game day and experience the Tennessee traditions that make Rocky Top so special. It’s the perfect blend of Neyland Stadium excitement and the welcoming spirit of our Volunteer community!
Rocky Top Tailgate is where the Volunteer spirit comes to life. Start your day with a campus tour led by UT ambassadors, then enjoy delicious tailgate favorites while connecting with Admissions staff and getting answers to all your admissions questions. With a live DJ, games, and plenty of Instagram-worthy photo opportunities, there’s no better way to experience the energy of Rocky Top firsthand. Remember to make time for the Vol Walk, where football players and coaches greet fans as they walk down Peyton Manning Pass (yes, that Peyton) into the stadium, two hours before kickoff! Shortly after, the Pride of the Southland Marching Band will Salute to the Hill, a spectacular display of musical performance.
After the tailgate, make your way to our largest classroom—Neyland Stadium, one of the most iconic venues in college football. With more than 102,000 fans filling the stadium, you’ll cheer on the Vols, and sing along as “Rocky Top” echoes throughout the stadium. It’s a day filled with tradition, energy, and Big Orange pride—one you’ll remember long after you return home.
Whether you’re just beginning your college search or already have a pair of iconic checkerboard overalls hanging in your closet, Rocky Top Tailgate is a can’t-miss event for you and your family. Space is limited, so don’t wait—register today!
We can’t wait to welcome you to campus, share our Tennessee traditions, and show you why there’s truly no place like our home, sweet home.
