Next Steps for
First-Year Students
It’s great to be a Tennessee Vol! It only takes a few easy steps to join us on Rocky Top:
Submit Your Final Transcript and Verified Test Scores
After you confirm enrollment, we will need to verify the self-reported high school grades and standardized test scores you included on your application. Please ask your testing agency to send your official test scores directly to UT by April 1, and your high school counselor or representatives to send your final transcripts by July 1* to finalize admission and any financial aid and scholarships that may have been offered to you.
Starting in Spring? If you plan to enroll in Spring, UT will need to receive these official documents to UT no later than January 5.
*Final high school transcript not ready yet? Let us know by logging into your Go Vols Portal, navigating to the GPA & Test tab, and completing the “Final High School Transcript Extension Request” form.
Admitted Students FAQs
Below are answers to some frequently asked questions about submitting test scores and transcripts once you are an admitted student. Remember, our team is always here to help if you have further questions. Give us a call at 865-974-1111 or contact your counselor here.
How do I confirm enrollment?
Log into your Go Vols Portal and click the “Confirm my enrollment” checklist item to pay the non-refundable and non-transferrable $250 confirmation deposit.
If I decline enrollment after I pay the confirmation deposit, can I get a refund?
No, our confirmation deposit is non-refundable.
Why do I need to submit my final high school transcript and/or official test scores?
It is important for the university to receive your final high school transcript and official test scores to verify the self-reported information you provided on your application, because our admission decisions are based on self-reported information. Official transcripts and test scores provided by your high school and directly from testing agency are used to confirm college readiness and finalize admission decisions and any aid you are offered.
If we receive official information that is different from what you self-reported on your application, this will cause your offer of admission to be rescinded and lose any financial aid you have been offered.
This can include but is not limited to:
- Being unable to provide official test scores which match prior submitted information
- Drastic drop in grades
- Negative grades in Senior year (12th grade)
- Dropping coursework
I submitted my high school transcript and test scores on my Go Vols Portal. Why do I have to do it again?
Undergraduate Admissions must be able to verify information you self-reported on your application using your final high school transcript and official test scores to finalize your financial aid and admission to UT.
What happens if I do not submit my final high school transcript and/or official test scores?
If we do not receive your final high school transcript and official test scores, you will not receive scholarships or financial aid and risk losing your admission status.
How do I turn in my final high school transcript?
Your final high school transcript will need to come directly from your high school guidance counselor.
How can my high school guidance counselor submit my final high school transcript?
- Through Parchment Express (Naviance)
- Through the Common App
- Upload to Slate.org
- Submit through SCOIR
- Through National Student Clearinghouse
- Email an official copy to undergradtranscripts@utk.edu
Mail an official transcript in a sealed envelope to the following address:
University of Tennessee Undergraduate Admissions

How do I submit my official test scores?
Your official ACT or SAT scores must be sent directly to UT from the testing agency; we must receive your official scores by April 1 if you plan to enroll in Summer or Fall, or prior to classes starting if you plan to enroll in Spring. There will be a fee the testing agency will charge for sending your official scores.
Who do I contact for my official test scores?
